PROCESS OF
PRIVATIZATION |
Tender
Announcement was published from 11 July 2005 and
the tender was completed in September 9, 2005.
However, according to the Court decision the
tender is revoked by the decision of the
Privatization High Council of numbered 2007/09
and dated February 6, 2007. Privatization
studies are ongoing.

Specifications of
Port of İskenderun
GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION
Port of İskenderun is
located in the north eastern part of
Mediterranean Sea. The port
serves to South and South East Anatolia Region,
as well as the transit traffic to the Middle
East Countries. Thus, port of İskenderun is an
important transit port. The port has a
breakwater of 1400m. long which avoids the port
from the north and south winds. The depth is
12m. at the entrance of the port.
Port of İskenderun, which is a
general purposed port, has connections to both
rail and highway networks and serving customers
to handle bulk, general cargos and Ro-Ro’s.
PILOTAGE/TOWAGE SERVICES
The ships enter into or exit from the Port of
İskenderun are obliged to take compulsory
pilotage service. The ships up to 2000 GRT are
not obliged to take towage service. Pilotage and
towage services are provided by Port Authority
for 24 hours.
SEA
CRAFTS There exist 1
floating crane with a capacity of 90 tons, 1
pilotage boat, 4 tugboats, 2 towage boats and 1
service boat in the port.
EQUIPMENT FOR CARGO HANDLING
There exist 1 full container
forklift with a capacity of 42 tons, 1 empty
container forklift with a capacity of 10 tons,
17 quay cranes with capacity of 3-35 tons, 8
mobile cranes with capacity of 5-25 tons, 2
crawler cranes, 8 standart forklifts and 13
small masted forklifts, 5 palleted cranes, and 3
loaders in the port. There is also a stocking
area for containerized cargo.
BULK CARGO
There exist a concrete silo owned
by TMO (Turkish Grain Board) with a capacity of
60.000 tons and a conveyor system connection
with the quay. The Port has also an ore conveyor
operating at a rate of 350 tons per hour for
loading and 250 tons per hour for unloading.
