PROCESS OF
PRIVATIZATION |
Tender Announcement
was published from 20 February 2008
and the tender was completed in May
16, 2008. Privatization High Council
had approved the tender on September
19, 2008. In accordance with the
related laws (Constitution Law,
Privatisation Law) the final draft
of the Concession Agreement
submitted to the opinion of the
Council of State after being
initialled by the parties. After
receiving the Council of State’s
decision about Concession Agreement,
the highest bidder has been invited
to sign a contract. Closing
procedures are ongoing

Specifications of
Port of Samsun
PILOTAGE/TOWAGE SERVICES
The ships enter into or exit from the Port of
Samsun are obliged to take compulsory pilotage
service. The Turkish ships up to 1000 GRT and
the foreigner ships up to 500 GRT are not
obliged to take towage service. Pilotage and
towage services are provided by Port Authority
for 24 hours with 3 tugboats which are available
up to 2500 HP.
SEA
CRAFTS There exist 1
pilotage boat, 3 tugboats, 2 towage boats and 1
service boat in the port.
EQUIPMENT FOR CARGO HANDLING
There exist 3 full container
forklifts with a capacity of 25-42 tons, 2 empty
container forklifts with a capacity of 8 tons,
19 quay cranes with capacity of 3-35 tons, 2
yard cranes with a capacity of 10 tons, 6
mobile cranes with capacity of 5-25 tons, 5
standart forklifts and 7 small masted forklifts,
and 2 small loaders with a capacity of 1.6 tons
in the port. There is also a stocking area for
containerized cargo and loading and unloading
services are carried out by a general purposed
crane with a capacity of 35 tons.

PARTY EQUIPMENTS FOR CARGO HANDLING
1 quay crane with grab of 8 tons.
BULK CARGO
A corn silo owned by TMO (Turkish
Grain Board) with a capacity of 30.000 tons.
RAIL
FERRY SYSTEM
The port has a ship to shore
bridge system to serve the railway-highway-seaway
combined transport among North European,
Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) and Middle
East countries. It has 184.5 m . long, 26.5 m .
width and 7.4 m . depth. Capacity of this system
is available for the vessels of 12.000 dead
weight tons. The height settings of land-ship is
done by
hydraulicly.
According to the future traffic
demands, it is possible to upgrade this system
up to 3 or 5 lines.
FREE
TRADE ZONE
which
is near the Port of Samsun,
covers an area of 71.000 m2 and activities at
the zone were in progress since the end of year,
1998.
