İzmir Refinery
İzmir
refinery is located near Aliağa on the Aegean coast,
60 km north of İzmir, and principally serves the
regional markets of western Turkey. The İzmir
refinery began operations in 1972 with a design
capacity of 3.0 million tons per year and has been
expanded and upgraded several times since start-up.
These modifications include a major crude
debottlenecking project and a major expansion
project. Thus, its refining capacity reached to 10.0
million tons per year in 1987. The refinery was
built by using American and Russian technology.
