TURKISH PETROLEUM REFINERIES CORPORATION

 

İzmit Refinery

İzmit refinery was established on January 11, 1960 by the İstanbul Petroleum Refinery Corp. (İPRAŞ) in Tütünçiftlik region on the gulf of İzmit.
The refinery went on stream in 1961 with a crude processing capacity of 1.0 million tons/year. After two expansion and two debottlenecking projects, the refinery's crude processing capacity increased to 11.5 million tons/year in 1982. The refinery was built by using American technology.
